A national school in Donegal is planning to install security cameras and enhanced security after what is believed to be human excrement was left in one of their classrooms.

The Principal, Sandra Moore of Ayr Hill National School, stated that this was not the first instance of vandalism that was targeted at the school.

Speaking to Highland Radio station, Moore recalled how the vandals desecrated graves in an old cemetery next to the school and then used the contents to break windows. Another incident occured when the contents of wheelie bins were strewn about the school grounds.

The most recent incident has been described by Moore as 'quite sinister' and 'disgusting'. She gave thanks to a fellow colleague who cleaned up the excrement but added that is not in her job description.

" We are a Green Schools. We pride ourselves on having nice grounds. It's very upsetting."

The Milford Gardai are investigating the incidents.
