Could you please give me some advice as to how to determine readiness for school? Are there any guidelines in terms of academic, physical, emotional, social development that can be recommended?
thanks

If your son is in a playschool, chat to the teacher there. They are usually good at recognising if a child is ready for school or not. On a practical level, your child should be able to use the toilet independantly and be confident with that, they should be able to put on and take off their coat and the same with their shoes. If buying shoes, look out for velcro closing as these are easy for children to manage. Once you are satisfied that your son is independant enough to be in a group of other children without you for a number of hours, then that should be fine.
