-----------------------------------
Kildare Library and Arts Services are pleased to announce the launch of our new Toys and Assistive Technology collection. Based in Leixlip Library the collection can be accessed throughout the library service and can be borrowed or utilised by joining the library from Tuesday 18th October.

The collection has been funded through the government Disability Strategy Funding and is part of project called Toys, Technology and Training which aims to ensure provision of Access and delivery of services to meet the needs of all the citizens of Kildare.

The toys and assistive technology have been chosen in partnership with the staff of Kildare County Libraries, staff of St John of Gods, Kildare Services, staff at charitable organisation Sensational Kids, Kildare and occupational therapists working in the community. The collection is designed to offer support to children and adults with learning difficulties, disabilities or more significant needs.

Parents, occupational therapists, resource personnel, teachers and professionals working in the area of learning support and special needs are invited to attend information meetings which will be held in Leixlip Library in October to receive further information about the collection and how to access it.
Information meetings will be held in Leixlip Library:
Monday 11th October 10am – 12.30pm

Monday 18th October 10am – 12.30pm

As part of the information sessions Occupational Therapists from Sensational Kids and a representative from Jackson Technology will demonstrate some of the toys and technologies and we will explain how the collection can be accessed.

Catalogues will be available to take home on the day.

Please contact the library to book a place in advance or can be downloaded from our website.

If you cannot make either of the information sessions in October please contact the library by phone or email or drop into the library during opening hours for further information.
