Appealing to all those families living in the Midlands. Lough Boora is a disused Bord Na Mona bog which now has lots of deciduous trees and bushes growing on it. You can bring a picnic, a bike or hire one to drive on paths around this peaceful flat terrain. Fishing lake for disabled nearby. Several sculptures commissioned and present on a 2km stretch approx can be admired on a leisurely walk. Appeals to many young families with buggies too.
Directions: Drive through Ferbane town, Co. Offaly towards Birr. Take road on right signposted to Blueball and therafter follow directions for Lough Boora.
