Summer Camp for those interested in Democratic Schooling

Summer Camp for those interested in Democratic Schooling           reply

-----------------------------------
Hi all Thank you for your interest in our Children’s Camp from 6 - 10 July. We are aware that we don’t have the same appearance as a professional summer camp crew - this is down to the fact that it comes out of a group that is discussing and planning the set up a different kind of school some time in the near future, based on the ethos of a democratically run school.
Activities range from Nature Craft, exploring music, cooking, Martial Arts to den building, drama and lots and lots of games and free play (plenty of equipment available, badminton, frisbee, skipping ropes, bushcraft tools, stilts etc.). Every day will start and close with an ‘open circle’ to share experiences and hear what comes up. We have people on board on some of the days who are addressing anti-bullying and integrate a session in non-violent communication.
The children are also invited to contribute to a huge communal drawing/illustration that will be there all week. Books and craft material will be available too.
There is an application and disclaimer form attached which we ask you to fill in and bring along on Monday morning, together with your donation. Please make sure to bring wellies, raincoat…and hopefully sunscreen, depending on the weather forecast. All activities will go ahead as planned regardless of the weather. Every child should bring a packed lunch and plenty of drinking water daily, except for Thursday when we cook lunch together.
You are not ‘signing up’ to our school project by joining us next week - but we would really welcome any feedback and comments regarding all aspects of the camp, as it will help us to learn from it. Looking forward to meeting you all, don’t forget: you are invited on Friday afternoon to join us for a picnic! Regards, The A.W.E. team
